Here are the finds from Tuesday and Wednesday. All the finds are from the Union camp that i've been at a few times and the same spot i went with my son on Sunday. The Canteen stopper, if that is what it is? I found on the first trip but didn't think it was anything till i saw one posted and thought it looked like what i had. The finds are 10 Spencer casings, one Spencer bullet, one Burnside, 2 hunks of lead, dandy button, brass tarp/blanket loop, toe tap, pewter spoon, hinge, iron saddle guide, and the Shingling hatchet. The little piece all the way to the right looks like a tip/finial to the sheath to a small knife? The coin is in the worst shape i have ever dug, it has dirt and rocks stuck to it so bad nothing so far will get them off. Any suggestions, peroxide didn't do much? In the pic i have marked the only identifiable spot on the coin, its in the 10 o'clock position on the reverse and looks like a hand holding a olive branch. Like the Connecticut or later Vermont coins. Any more input would be great. I'm going to try and clean the hatchet in apple cider vinegar and i'll post the cleaned up pics when its done. Thanks for looking and HH!!

Amazing finds!!!

What's the book you're referencing in the pics?

Sweeeet hatchet and finds!!!

The coin could also be a (1787, NOVA EBORAC, Seated Figure Facing Left) Nova Eborac Coinage for New York.

You really found some great things. Like that button and spoon.wish I could help ya on the coin.thanks for sharing.

Not sure that's a canteen top... But the other finds are FANTASTIC. Congrats,

Buck

:icon_thumleft: Nice hunt & finds ! Those pewter spoons are always a welcome find here in SJ , as usual , pewter utensils are found as broken pieces .

:icon_scratch: wish all spoons were coin silver, back in Early America .

Sorry , Can't see the details on your coin .

Hope there are more in better shape out there . HH CMD

It is so nice to see all the wonderful finds. WTG!

HH!

Good stuff. Wish I could help with the coin, but can't really see anything in the pictures. I've dug maybe 4 or 5 coppers this year that I can't make anything out on, so don't feel bad! As for the canteen stopper, not sure on that either. It's quite decorative so I don't know if that would be CW period or not if it was indeed a canteen stopper. Almost looks like a top to a salt or pepper shaker just don't see any holes for that.

that is a stunning Pewter spoon!!!!!Too bad it isnt complete,I dont see them in that shape too often!!!Thats Pre-CW,just in case you didnt know but were still in use during that time I am sure

Thanks Kuger, i didn't know the pewter spoons were Pre-Civil War! Thanks!

Awsome finds Ryan - Man that coin looks like it's gonna be hard to get much on it - I hope you can bring it out where you can see it- good luck and HH

Yeah pewter spoons are colonial period.

Heck of a year so far there RYAN!!! CONGRATS.. HH

F2, you & Matt are finding stuff so quick that I can't keep up with the posts-LOL. The iron saddle guide is from a McClellan saddle i believe. WTG, Quindy.
