Ruins (people lived there, preferred old ones)
Private yards (people lived there or still do)
Rivers (people did not always have water in the house)
Water wells (same as river)
Walls (people can have had coins in pocket while working, ever forgotten you have change in your pocket??)

When an old house has BURNED, and they haul the debris away, that's a good spot.
especially if it was being lived in.

Contact the landowner and offer return of any mementos found.
