possible pestle?

What really makes me wonder is the widest end is flat like it may have been used to grind?Probably just natural,but what do you look for in something of the sort," like a pestle"?joe

That end does look polished from use. I'm not sure.

I find them in that shape also but am always disappointed when I pick them up. Yours does show grinding marks but from what time period I have no idea. Worth saving if you think it is a possible tool.
