Possible revolutionary war button?

Hi guys, new guy here, I made a first post over in the civil war forum, but also have a button I believe is possibly Rev war Era.

Any info would be greatly appreciated, just tying to I'd a couple of items I'm not sure of.

It's a French Button, 23rd Regt. What's the back like?

Thanks Rebel. The back doesn't have a regular shank, it sticks up from the button kinda squareish and has I believe 4 holes around it. I'm not home right now to post a pic of the back, sorry.

That sounds like the turret shank, which is consistent with French ID.
