I am hoping that nautical/maritime button experts can weigh in on latest find. Found this button along the Blackwater River in Santa Rosa FL county near an area where river boat traffic carried lumber and passengers during the years 1870-1910. It measures 15 mm 5/8 inch. The design, with a ship's wheel could have been from a uniform....or maybe ..... it was just fashionable?

Any help on identifying or dating this shoreline find would be greatly appreciated!

The closest button I could find was for the, "Transportation Corps" but not even sure from which country this group works/worked out of?
Thanks for the detective work, Goldie Locks! I agree that the Transportation Corps (US Army?) is a close but not identical solution.
