Pre-Gettysburg Civil War camp

[462]

Got out twice in the past week to a friends property that was on the eastern flank of Gen Meade's Pipe Creek Line, just prior to the battle of Gettysburg. Found 4 three ringers (one chewed), a 1905 IH and a whats it?, on the first day and then 13 three ringers, a type I Williams cleaner and a .69 Musket ball on the second day.

Congratulations. Great saves. "What's it" looks like the bottom part to a shaler variant. Should be about 57 caliber.

It's .75 diameter x .75 tall. Found it in a farm field so it could be more modern and part of a piece of farm equipment.
