This obsidian piece was likely being worked into a projectile point. Work must’ve ceased for some reason, maybe the material wasn’t behaving as desired or it had some use as is. The general shape would indicate becoming a rattlesnake type, possibly a stockton or other north Bay Area cluster. CA.
The tool is a little cutter made from some kind of leftover flake or nice raw piece found at the quarry. The piece is pressure flaked to a sharp edge and there’s enough space along the burin cut top to apply index finger pressure.
