Well it’s been a short Presidents Day weekend for me. But I was able to get out Saturday and for a short time Sunday managing a 2.6 dwt 10k gold ring, made with white and yellow gold. The ring has three stones that I don’t think are real. I also managed a small Silver Ring that has a hallmark that looks like a stick face, its marked UMR and what looks like the numbers 922.
My other notable finds:
  • two war nickels, but lost one. It was a 1943 big S, at the end of the day I still had a 1945 D, oh well.
  • 10 wheat’s with the oldest being minted in 1928,
  • a 5 Pfennig Deutsches Coin dated 1911,
  • a Huckleberry Hound spoon marked HBR Old Company Plate
  • a small dog tag that I think is for a GI Joe caricature, but I’m not positive
  • a Coca Cola Lions Football crest
  • and a F-15 die-cast.
Thanks for looking.

HH.

Thanks for the congrats oknorm. Man I hate when that happens. I lost a 1963 Washington DC Bus Token there too. I also lost a pot metal pilot badge, thank God it wasn’t Silver. I hope to never loose something made of gold, or a 90% Silver coin like you. I need to slowdown and put my keepers in my watch-pocket or in another secure place. Thanks again oknorm.

Thanks to you too Pepper2004

Hey Anthony,

I see you've been able to find your usual gold and silver again. I see you sold some of your gold. Is an SE in your near future? I think it might have to be a backup for you, considering your abilities on the Goldbug.

Good luck on your next outing!!

Thanks Captain SE.
I need a machine that can hunt in turf and the GB-2 isn’t good for that. I plan on using my GB2 on demos for Gold and the SE for Silver.

I did indeed sell some of my Gold and I’m getting a new SE. But I’m still contemplating on who to purchase if from so I can get the best overall deal. From my research it’s come down to either KellyCo or Sun Ray. Basically the only differences between the two are that KellyCo gives an extended two year warranty (4 years total) but does not offer the Sun Ray Inline Probe. And that Sun Ray does not offer the 2 year extended warranty but has the upper shaft mod that is needed to install the probe. Sun Ray counters the 2 year extended warranty with offers of discounted coils.

If I purchase it from KellyCo and shipped the upper shaft to Sun Ray for the mod would this void the warranty from KellyCo? If I don’t send them the shaft I’ll have to spend another $40.00 on top of the probe price, the $40.00 is for a new upper shaft that Sun Ray would need to modify.
What would you suggest?

I'll make a decision by Friday not matter what. Thanks

Dude, with a pile like that i'd still be out hunting!! i got out twice for a few hours this w/e and got some clad only.....really need to get some different places to hunt lined up once the weather gets nice....great haul!!!

some nice finds and love the pictures. good hunting

Re: Pres Day Weekend: Gold Ring, Silver Ring, War Nic, 10 Wheats, 1911 Pfennig,

Great pictures man! Good finds as well

Looks like a great day to me! Those rings are really nice. The Huckleberry spoon brings back memories..the show was aired in the early to mid-60's, so the spoon is nearly an antique (like me ;D)

Whenever I find a keeper coin I put it in a separate (usually deep) pocket..keeps it safe and from getting scratched by regular clad coins. Once I found a Walker half and went back to my truck just to put it in there so I wouldn't misplace it.

I'll keep my fingers crossed about the nickel, maybe you just misplaced it in your vehicle or somewhere close by.

Congrats on all those good finds, you have a great place to hunt.

Nat

Great way to celebrate President's Day! Bummer about the lost nickel :'(. We do grow attached to each find, don't we?
