pretty interesting cent find yesterday, any ideas?

Good morning folks, figured I'd post this as it has me stumped. At first I thought it was steel, but its not. And the coating that is mostly worn off isn't copper, its more golden brown than anything.

My son found one of those last year. I don't recall the date but it had the same extra thick rim and was slightly smaller in diameter than a normal cent. I'll see if I can get a photo of it and post it up here.

Been rattling around in a clothes dryer for awhile. Pretty common to find.
