So, as you all know I have been trying to locate the privy(s) on our 1800s property. I had a threaded rod I was using as a probe, because it collected dirt samples each time I pulled it out. So I probed... and probed... and probed some more... but all I kept hitting hard ground, and found it was clay. A few times the rod went down 2 feet + easily, so I dug, only to hit clay. So then I found out that some of the ground in the yard had possibly been moved around in the past (no one was digging, but they had a trailer there so they might have leveled the ground for it or something. So my question is - what might I be doing wrong and would them moving the ground make a difference? Thanks!
