I went to a local park today with Lee and Larry. I have hunted this park probably 50+ times with 10 or more different guys. I had NEVER seen a single silver coin dug in this park personally. I have heard stories of others finding lots of silver coins 30 years ago, but none recently.

I went in today telling myself that I was going to find silver this time out. Boy did I surprise myself today! I finished the day with 7 silver coins, 4 IH pennies, 3 wheats, a broken ring, a kennedy half dollar, Air Force wings with star pin. It was just one of those lucky days. The half dollar came out of the ground because I got a quarter signal laying on top of the ground.

1883 Canadian Dime - about 8-9 inches deep
1915-S Barber Dime
1936 Washington Quarter
1937 Mercury Dime
2 1943 Mercury Dimes
1956 Roosevelt Dime

1880 IH Cent
1893 IH Cent
1900 IH Cent
1903 IH Cent

A great day! Congrats. Tsgman

:o :o :o First of all, congratulations on a most excellent hunt. A bit of luck and a lot of skill went into that dig. I feel like I have to top that hunt, what a goal that is. I have a feeling it'll be a long time coming. :-[ :-[

OMG what a day. Thats one heck of a spot you have there. Loads of great finds that would most all be firsts for me.

Congratulations always like seeing your finds. Hope you keep up those great finds.

thats incredible brian!! let me ask you, what did you do differently this time as opposed to the many other times you went to this park? i have a similar site that i have just begun to hunt. from 1917 to 1928 the state fair was held at this location and from 1928 till the early 40s it was an auto racetrack. then in the 40s they built houses and made almost the entire site a neighborhood, except for a small park. i am cetain it has been pounded over the years due to its history, but during my initial search of the site i did manage a 36 buffalo. i was considering changing my tactics a little this weekend and dig all of the iffy and not so certain signals just to see what happens. this place is pretty much devoid of those solid "in your face" types of targets, no doubt the result of years of being hunted......sorry for the long off subject post. ::) your site just kinda reminds me of the place im working on because im sure it was a goldmine back in the day. did you change your tactics on your park?

wow brian! it sounds like you just got your coil over an unsearched piece of the park! good for you! those finds are awesome!
The only thing I did differently today is to hunt a part that I had not previously hunted. Then I just grid the area mentally and go back and forth across the entire area and dig every deep coin signal. There are many other spots in this park that I have tried this method and spent the whole day and not dug a single coin. It was just one of those days.

Good finds my friend. Reminds me of the city park where I live. I don't hunt it very often for the fact that all it's ever given up is a 35' wheat, but I have got a pic of it 1899 when there was 14,000 people crammed in it for a rodeo. I feel like it should be full of coins, but they've eluded me this far. Your day will make me look at it differently. Way to go, Eric

Just pick an area and grid it mentall and dig anything deep that remotely sounds like a coin. They are there, but they aren't found as often if you just wonder around randomly. You have to cover every square inch of that ground to turn up the few coins that are left.

:o :o :o :o7 silvers in one day!! That is outstanding!!! :)

That is such an awesome haul of finds, stars must be lined up in your favor, better buy a lottery ticket! Congrats on all that silver and the IHs. HH, Mike

WOW THATS ALOT

Yeah, I probably should have bought a lottery ticket after all of that. It was just one of those days...

Sweet finds dude! 8) ;D ;D Even an old Canadian coin.

Great story but do you really think you have hit this place 50 times? Must be a huge park. Amazing too that there was this "pocket" left in the park.

Anyway, you are doing good with that Exp II.

What about the old nickels? Gotta believe with all that stuff there were nickels around.....

I've hit the park 50 times or more. I would say it is close to 100 acres. I haven't really even scratched the surface as far as hunting it all though. But there are quite a few spots where you can walk around for several hours and get nothing. Back in the 70s and 80s I've been told you could find a dozen guys out there hunting it every day of the week. One of the guys that I hunt with dug over 1500 Indian Heads alone out of the 2 parks that I hunt in the 70s and early 80s.

As for nickels... I did not hear any nickel signals, of course I don't listen for them as much. When there are 4 pull tabs per swing it's hard to stop and focus in on every single signal to see if it is deep and MAYBE a nickel. Plus they come out so rusty and nasty looking that they don't excite me too much anyways.

Congratulations, Brian on the fantastic silver day. :)

That must be some park to be still producing coins after so many hunts. :o

Right on! That's what it's all about right there! Good job Bud! Now you got to top that!

I'll be right over to hunt the shark pit with ya... ;) That's the only way I can top that, haha.

Sweet Pile-O-Coins, Brian!

You should go hit that same area some more!
