Learnt a valuable lesson yesterday, always go with a hunch and especially if backed up by research.
Place is only 1klm from work and ive been driving past it for 5 yrs, big open overgrown paddocks that

Proved to be former farmland that holds no less and likely more than 6 homesites.
These coins were recovered in 1.5 hrs in a very small area and after a debrief seems i wasnt even bang on the home site i was hoping to detect, this is my new go to area

Awesome research, and awesome finds!

The mapping resources online are phenomenal. I've recently started using https://www.historicaerials.com/ and found a series of pre-1900's era home sites, with a cluster of 1920's - 1940's home sites next door, all within 1/2 mile of my house. Best part is it's all plowed fields now, and owned by a developer who I'll be paying a visit to next week to seek permission. Given their local community involvement, I have reasonably high hopes.

Historic Aerials is amazing because it allows you to overlay new maps onto older maps, then lets you use a feature to hover over the current day map and see through to the historic map. Bloody awesome!
