Prospecting in Colorado? Tips? Beaver Creek?

This summer I'm going to Beaver Creek Colorado, and I am wondering if anyone has prospected for gold there; Any Success? If so, Where? I've heard there are some mines by Mont of Holy Cross

The town of Beaver Creek is not in the "Colorado Gold Belt" (google that to learn more) but just east of there in Summit County there is gold or south east in Park County. The Town of Fairplay in Park County has a recreational placering area for pans and sluices - they only charge $5/year for the permit! The only published areas in Summit County are pretty touristic but you could join one of the CO prospecting clubs which have claims to do some serious mining
