Pumpkin Heads

I know this is probably an old question, but that’s ok because I’m an old guy. What is the symbolism of a pumpkin head at a KGC site. I was thinking maybe Copperhead or Butternut. Also, how would it be used, would it show ownership, direction, warning, or something else.
