Yesterday I just went to the local sled hill to learn more about my dings and buzzes of my ACE350 and pay my dues.
In a few hours I pulled about 2$ of basic clad. I was sure hoping to find some lost rings from the winter, since I can only buy my AT Pro if I find the funds! I did go past an old "indian trail" location and found this wierd piece of cooper.

But today I get some great permission from an old friend to detect his grandparents 1800 something farm and again-- only some modern dimes and a brass buckle. Man o man, old farms are tough to hunt with all the beeps and iron and can slaw. Oh Boy

How long will it take to find a silver Rosie or better or a IHP or something that'll get the heart racing. I need something besides clad even on my old homestead permissions

I hunt snowplay areas most of the time, there everywhere around here. Here is the deal...I'm in a touristy type place and virtually everywhere the flatlanders can park is worth checking out.every turnout, wide shoulder etc.Dont worry about whether parking there is even legal, they were there.

there are two high percentage spots in a snowplay area.the top and the crash zone.Forget trying to use common sense when determining whether a spot was safe to sled...they just do it and purposely crash before running into the nasties at the bottom.

they will hike, climb over, duck under, pull down barrier etc.Dont underestimate the determination of this crowd. On the other hand there is the crowd that just wants to feel snow, huck a few snow balls, stretch their legs etc.the first 100 ft.next to easy access can be great spot for rings etc.

If you are finding clad, zipper pulls, sunglass parts etc.....hammer that spot...every inch from opposing directions. If there are boulders, large stumps or any other spot to sit then wade through the bottle caps and pull tabs and clean it out.

I have found a bit more than my share this way but again...they are tourists, day trippers mostly who arent about to spend the big bucks for a day at the ski areas.I have found far more jewelery at these spots than at the ski areas.often these spots have layered history as well.logging, hunting, mining etc.and you are likely to stumble across some silver coins that predate the modern highway.happens alot.

good luck and dont tell anyone these secrets !!..:occasion14:
