quarters?

I know this has been talked about before. I want to try searching quarters for silver. I have access to BOA, wells fargo, td, chase banks is there anyone that might have some input on which bank might have better cases of quarters to look threw? Its probably just like anything else luck of the draw , but i figured i would ask for some info if anyone had any. Everyone says quarters are a waist of time. Im thinking if nobody is checking quarters maybe there is a possible built up of silver if no one is culling it. What do you guys think??

I've had little to no luck ordering boxes, but I do find a small amount of silver in CWR. Quarters are probably the most circulate coin which means more people have the chance to see it before it goes anywhere. Quarters might not be a complete waste of time, but won't produce as much compared to other coins. It all depends on how lucky you get and the silver in your area.

The quarter and cent are the highest circulated. IMO they are looked at a little harder than the other denominations.

Yes you can find silver quarters, but from what I have read here the finds are low 1 coin per 3-5 boxes

My average with quaters is about 1 per $600. I think thats similar (in weight) to the average dime finds per amount searched. Those silver quaters can add up. The key is volume. Good luck if you decide to chase those quaters.

Lately I've been hitting 1 quarter for every two boxes or so. They are definitely still out there. The biggest problem with quarters for me is bankroll. They cost $500 per box and its usually a high risk (for skunk) low reward, I would almost always choose a box of halves over a box of quarters.

As far as quarters being an "untapped wilderness" I have wondered the same thing since I do find them when I search quarters. I have my doubts though because as others have said they just get observed too much in natural circulation. Silver quarters just stand out too much today compared to the clad quarters.

Been working retail for 4 years. In the countless rolls Ive cracked open into a register during that time Ive found 1 SLQ, 3 washingtons and a clad proof. Not good enough odds for me to justify ordering a box. Way too many State/Park quarters in my area.

I would say those results are fairly good and maybe you should try it (you will go through a lot more than those rolls after some time).

My one and only silver quarter found this year was a coinstar reject. I haven't searched quarter boxes, but I've picked up a few hundred dollars worth in random quarter rolls over the past few months and haven't found anything. I might keep picking up a few rolls every once in a while, but I don't plan on getting them by the box. I'll just keep checking the coinstars for silver quarters (or any silver/gold) for now.

It is the same thing for me. Searched $300 (MWR) and found nothing. However, I did find a '36-D semi-key quarter in a coinstar about 6 mos. ago.

it's funny, quarters are considered a waste of time, but if you look at the recent skunk rate on here halves are a huge waste of time. I went through $1250 when I lived in Texas and found one silver quarter and one Wisconsin low leaf error coin (worth about a hundred bucks). held on to that one, only 15,000 out there!

Went through a box of quarters last night, found nothing. still, I'm moving onto quarters in general now

May call my pickup bank that can no longer do halves and do a box of quarters and 2 boxes of dimes instead...

Need to figure out my new strategy but you talked me into giving it a shot and i do love silver quarters

I've had pretty good luck with quarters so far (only 3 boxes), and I've had two skunk boxes and one box with 7 silvers. I think it's worth it so far.

The key is volume.

Very true... the same goes for any denomination though. Volume and determination are key to finding that silver!

i do love silver quarters

I also like them. My 3rd favorite quarter design is Washington (silver, clad looks ugly). I think is is also that some portion of my American silver is from circulation, and I only have 1 quarter from CRH and 1 I bought.
