Dang that’s a bonus check right there. Im a carpenter and I do mostly termite damage repairs and when I’m at these big houses I always peep the gravel flower beds and drip lines from gutters 😂 I have found a few pieces nothing close to whole but never know.I was walking this construction site near my house and i found this half red half white quartz morrow mountain type 1 point. I have found a few round base MM before but this is my first stemmed find.
Yes the construction site is big they have dug up 15 feet of soil in some areas. They are putting 50 homes here so I'm glad to have rescued this point from destruction or being buried under a house. The site sits at high elevation and is nearby a creek. I also found some flakes and a thumbnail scraper. I need to go there again. I found this point on a dirt mound. I recognized the shape right away but had to clean it off first to see the beautiful coloring.Dang that’s a bonus check right there. Definitely bound to be something else out there do you hunt creeks fields or anything else in your area? Thanks i bet there is more artifacts here just have to put in the time. I am in SC.
Yes the majority of my searches are in creeks, rivers, and high fields above water. The funny thing is I searched a nearby creek a few days prior to no avail. I didn't expect to find anything at this site and ended up finding something within 30 minutes.Definitely bound to be something else out there do you hunt creeks fields or anything else in your area?
Quartz is hard to tell in that it has been worked especially in pictures but that's mostly the artifact type we have around my area. My local arceologist already confirmed its a MM point. Its the typical MM stemmed point. Its the exact size, tapered shape, has stemmed shoulders, and serrated on both sides.I can't see how that's a point. Just a rock.
You just have to keep looking until you find a good spot. If there are any plowed or fields that have been disced it would be much easier for you to learn what to look for. You will find many broken ones in fields but once in a while you will find a nice point. I’ve been hoping the farmers I know would turn the soil but I drove by today and I believe he just sprayed and planted again. I’m sure it’s cheaper for him.Quartz is hard to tell in that it has been worked especially in pictures but that's mostly the artifact type we have around my area.
