I dug these yesterday along with a George Washington Mourning button. The location I dug them at was occupied from the early 1600s until after the civil war. I haven't measured the cannonball yet. I will post the measurements this evening. I am calling it a cannonball but I am uncertain of that description. It is half of an iron ball that is hollow inside. I am assuming it had shot inside of it. I also dug an 8lb solid cannonball at the same site before.
The blade looks to me to possibly be for shaving but i'm not sure. You can see where it was mounted inside of a wooden handle. Any thoughts?

With the slight curve of the blade, I'm guessing flatware (butter knife).

The cannonball item appears to have a flange which makes me think it fit on something. Maybe a fence post topper?
