Question about the Compadre.

So I was testing the compadre on a piece of iron and turned the discrimination all the way up and it still picked it up I thought it was just because it was out of the ground so I decided to search with it and I found another piece of iron so why is it doing this shouldn't it be filtering it out?

The iron setting will discriminate out nails and other small pieces of iron but larger pieces will show up. I have found old cast iron pieces over a foot deep with the Compadre. Gotta dig them all! May be a cast iron box full of gold coins! The Compadre is a GREAT machine. Dig Dig Dig, steve

99% of metal detectors will PICK UP IRON if its large enough as it overwhelms the head or winding in the head . So you're not alone. even the high oriced ones will do the same. jmho
