Question about the Minelab X-Terra 50

I don't have a 50, but someone will chime in about it's use soon.

Something you have to understand about reviews that aren't published in national magazines. You never know the author or their skill level, the settings they made, coil size, or location. They could be a shill for another company and bad mouth the detector you are researching. Even the reviews that are published they tell about the features and how they are best used to your advantage. It is in the field test when they report on finding things is where story telling can come into play. Maybe too the author might have had a bad day and didn't get the coil over anything really good. If he never found a gold ring, does that mean the detector isn't capable?

I can tell you that the X-Terra 50 is a very nice detector and you would be happy with one.

I have one and love it.
It is the only ID detector I have and is the very first detector I bought.... as far as I am concerned, I did well to buy this detector.
It has a very good selection of coils and is very versitle.
Just my opinion,
Felix

I run a 705 and it is a good machine. A few guys on another forum have the 50/505 and do very well with them. They like their machines.

I have the Xterra 70 and really like it and I am planning on the new updated Xterra 505 as my second backup because it will run all the coils that my Xterra 70 runs. That way i wont have to buy all new coils for each unit. The Xterra 50 will not work with the 3Khz coil and the Xterra 505 will. I'de go with the Xterra 505 or even better the new updated Xterra 705.
The Xterra 505 and Xterra 70 and the Xterra 705 will run with the 3Khz, 7.5Khz and 18.75 DD Khz.

Nick, I have the fifty and have really liked it so far. I use the 5x10 mainly for freshwater beaches and have a 6 inch 7.5 khz coil also. pinpointing on this is real good. I have a 70 coming in a week. Maybe my son will use the 50.

I have heard nothing but good from my clients who have purchased them from me.
As a matter of fact I sell a large amount of them to the local Law enforcement guys.
They carry them in their cruisers with them in case they need to locate discarded items like guns, knives etc...
It's a good choice. :icon_thumleft:

I had a 50 and now a 70. The 5o locked on to a target better. It has less segments that is why it locked on better. I like the ground balance features on the 70 better though. Both are great machines. I would like to have a 505 because the way they lock on and use the same coils as the 70 and 705.

I have an X-terra 50 and love it. Learn your machine. It is a great detector I use mine every chance I get.
