Question on a couple of foreign coins and finally got a "Dream Bag" !! PICS

Does a 1970 or 1971 5 Francs have any silver in it? Looks Silver on the edge, sounds like silver as well. If not what is the value? Also I have about 5 -71' to 75 Un Peso, any silver in those?

I finally got to buy a bag from the banks coin machine, took some convincing, but man that is the way to go. Turns out it took the bank 6 months to fill it. 200 silver coins plus the 8 foreign coins out of 1000.00 dollar bag!!!!

Break down
180 40%

20 90%

Thanx

Too many hobbies.

It was the best score for me so far. Working on a Strategy to get the Bags from the banks, I will post when I have it down. ;D

Thanks for posting the pictures.....again great job! Love those stacks.

As for the foreign coins.....I'm am not too interested in foreign coins (except the silver ones...ha) so I save mine for a fellow member in this forum who is in a MD club & once a year they use foreign coins to teach disabled children how to MD. It's a good cause.

Dude thats a Dream Bag!

Your title should mention "Dream Bag Found"

Thanks for showing the picture. You need to spread the franklin's and Libertys out a little in the picture.

Mojo.

Howdy, Silverstrike. I specialize in world coins... can't get enough of 'em.

Your French 5 franc is almost definitely nickel. France discontinued the silver 5 franc coin in 1969. The only way it could be silver is as an error coin struck on a silver planchet by mistake, which would make it seriously valuable. But don't bet on it. The only way to be certain is to weigh the coin.

The last silver Mexican peso was minted in 1957, and by then the silver had been debased down to only 10%. All pesos since then have been composed of base metals only.

Great Britain used silver in coins of 6 pence, 1 shilling, and 2 shillings until 1946, with base metal coins starting in 1947. These were the last circulating silver in the UK. Similarly, Ireland's coinage has been silver-free since 1943, with a few rare exceptions.

Norway's last silver circulating coins were in 1919, and Japan has not used silver since World War II.

Thanks Mojo , not one for braggin :).. Changed title.. ;D

Thank you Cerulean for all the info, I'm thinking of saving them tell I have 20 dollars worth and exchanging them at the bank, " if that is possible?

Again thanks to all.

P.S. I am fairly new to CRH however I have learned if you work Nicely with the Branch Managers you can get the Bags directly from the Machine. Of course I always ask. " Were the halves all brought in at once or did it take a while to get this amount". I.E. the bag above took them 6 months to fill !!

Good Luck to all!!

That is one SICK dream bag... can't go wrong with a $500 profit over face just by nabbing a bag. ;)

As far as exchanging the foreign coins at a bank, I would say that they won't let you. All of the banks near me, assuming they deal with foreign currency at all, limit themselves to the fiat and stay away from the coinage. You can't blame them when you think about it.

Grats again one one HELL of a dream bag.
