Question on serial numbers ?...

On the 8-digit serial number, do they normally start with 1000 0000, or do they actually start the run as 0000 0001 ???
If someone had a bill with a s/n under a thousand is that a keeper?
Sorry, I'm not into currency that much, only coinage.

They start with '1' on the right side of the zeros.
Some collectors use the number '1000' and an 'over or under' break point for the value of bills; it's only arbitrary, but marketing effort has hyped the perceived value of bills with s/n under 1000.
