Question on the CZ-20

Sandman or any of you that use the CZ-20.... Is there a way to tell when the batteries are getting low? I noticed this morning that towards the end of my hunt I was getting a lot of tiny almost but not quite silent signals with every swing. The first couple I dug but nothing was there then I noticed that it was happening with every swing. could this be what I should listen for when the batteries are getting low?

you have a batt test mode on the sensitivity knob.make sure the volume is all the way up and switch to batt on the sensitivity knob and both red lights should light up.if you dont have the volume all the way up it will only light 1 light even with full charge.

If ever in doubt, change the batteries...........

I was in doubt and they had about 30 hours on them so I put new ones in this morning. Thanks for the help

Sounds like the noise that you are hearing could be "falsing". Does this happen at the end of your swing? Falsing will happen if the sensitivity is set too high. Try turning the sensitivity down a bit and make sure the detector is ground balanced. Turning it down some will not lose much depth. The falsing would not happen because the batteries are getting low. The detector will work normally until the batteries are dead and can't produce enough juice to run it. The battery check LED's are just a tool to let you know that the batteries may need to be changed in the near future. Check the batteries as Dixie described. With even one light on you should have some time left. The light will get weaker as the batteries get weaker. If it's at that point and you are planning a long hunt, it's best to be prepared by putting fresh batteries in. Like Sandman says, "if you have any doubt..........."

I have often wondered the same.........After some trial and error, even with my poor hearing, I hear a change in tones when the batteries are low. Kind of a TINK ? If you can relate? HH Gayle

Exactly rsc! A kind of tink sound. But now that I have new batteries in there I don't hear that anymore.
