Hey guys I dug up a 1945 war nickel in great shape today with a 1944 wheaty and clad totaling $4.19 today!

Does the 1945 war nickel count as finding silver,as it's 38% silver in it?

Keep on swinging and HH :)

It's silver in my book. Congrats!

Thx guys now I know! It's my 1st war nickel. I haven't found a buffalo nickel yet, but to me I rather find a war nickel with date in nice shape than finding a buffalo with no date! Just sayin...:)

War nickels currently have $1.11 worth of silver in them, so it definitely counts as silver in my book.

Great finds! Thanks for sharing...

I got one buddy who doesn't count them...

However, I always have.

Why not??? I'd certainly count a 40% Silver Half Dollar...so why not a 30-something% war nickel.

Silver in my book.

I never used to count them or even keep them, but the last few years Ive gotten a lot smarter, heck yea its silver

Silver is silver as far as I'm concerned, no matter what the percentage!
Congrats on your 'silver nickel' find! :occasion14:

If it has silver in it, I count it as silver!

Its silver. Harder to sell as junk silver though. At 35% silver per coin it's not as easy to off as a 90% dime. But dollar per dollar face value you get more silver in nickels.

I've never found one but I would say silver is silver.

Yes

If it's shiny out of the ground it counts. At least at my house.
