Question: What is the most valuable single coin you've pulled from circulation?

Out of curiousity.. what is the single most valuable coin you've pulled from circulation or paid face value for?

Mine was a 1921 Peace Dollar I got years ago...
As for best in pennies: 1922 Canadian Penny low mintage
As for best in halves: None more than silver content value ... Never gotten a Barber in 10 years of searching.
(Updated 2/16/10 - did find a 1901 very worn Barber two weeks ago (AG-03))
As for best in dimes: 1927-S in VF condition
As for best in nickels: Don't search nickels
As for best in quarters: Don't search quarters

Notables although not extremely rare or valuable (all circulated)
1892 Columbian Expo Half Dollar
1986-S Ellis Island Half Dollar
1994-D World Cup Half Dollar
1992-S Olympics Half Dollar

I remember that TF that was a good one! Back to searching boxes with winter on the brink?

I'd say my best is probably a 1970 half or 1892 Columbian Expo half...you be the judge!

Re: Question: What is the most valuable single coin you've pulled from circulation?

Pennies... 1992-D close AM unsure of its value as I can't find one for sale, but judging by the PCGS prices I did ok...

Also 1924-D and 1914-S pennies, 1909 VDB(x5?) and a few others I am forgetting about as I am just doing this from memory.

nickels... 1950-D(x2), 1883 No Cents V Nickel

dimes... nothing particularly valuable though I have found a couple barbers.

quarters... nothing particularly valuable some from the 30's and a 1958 that is pretty low mintage if I remember right.

halves... a couple barber halves, 1970-D, and a couple of earlier walkers that I don't remember the date of, but not as rare as 1938-D from what I remember.

dollars... nothing to speak of...all Ikes or newer.

Re: Question: What is the most valuable single coin you've pulled from circulation?

Hi all,
I used to own a bulk vending(gumball machines) business and found quite a few silver quarters. The best was a 32s in vf condition. The were several other silver coins in that machine that day so I think some kid got into his dads collection and bought gumballs!

Re: Question: What is the most valuable single coin you've pulled from circulation?

Most valuable. Possibly a wrong planchet error. I found a quarter that is wrong diameter, wrong weight, wrong material, wrong thickness, and the reeding is screwed up. Could be a worthless counterfeit.

1939D nickel in sweet condition (a couple steps).

My wife found a 1912 V nickel with a mint mark. I can't tell if it's the S or not though. Should I nick-a-date it?

Kindest regards,
Kantuck
