I have a question for all I'm going to get a second and possibly third machine and my first is going to be a back up one I'm looking at is the minelab ctx3030 does anyone on here use that machine and if so what do you think about it and other machine is either going to be either the at pro or the at pro gold what do you all think?

I don't think you would be happy with a $700 backup to a $2600 machine.

I bought a V3i and love it. I may have went for the ctx3030 but I wasn't able to swing the cash for it. Maybe next time around. They are both great machines though.

I mean the 3030 has everything I'm looking for and more .so I really think its going to be the 3030 but it will be a few months before I have it but should be swinging it by the warm up

Hi Joey! You can't go wrong with the CTX 3030. It is the "Mac Daddy" of multi-frequency VLF detectors. With that said, if you are going to add a few more "clubs to your bag," consider the hunting conditions and targets you will encounter where you detect. Here is what I mean.

The Minelab CTX will cover all of your needs from woods, to farm and sports fields, large parks, freshwater lakes, and even some saltwater applications. It is however, heavy - and complicated to learn and set up properly (75-150 hours on the headphones to become competent). With that in mind you may want to add a second machine, like a light and simple jewelry finder to your arsenal – the Tesoro Compadre comes to mind.

You might want to look at a pulse induction metal detector, which will give you even more depth than the CTX 3030, both on land and in saltwater and on wet saltwater sand. In this case the Whites Dual Field and Tesoro Sand Shark stand out on the beach, and Minelab GPX machines on dry land. – Good Luck!

I got to try an AT Pro for about a half hour this fall. It worked good and had great depth. I didn't like the tiny display or the overall ergonomics/balance of the detector. A lot of people use them and have great success with them. It just was not for me.

I don't know what you're swinging now but I would think the 3030 would be the primary machine and the others would be the backups. The choice for 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc machines should be based on what kind of detecting you plan on doing.

I'm swinging a whites coin master the 3030 is going to be my primary machine but I'm actually thinking about getting my dive certification cause eventually I want to try my hand at treasure hunting

In that case, I'd add an Excalibur to the inventory. You can go down 200ft with that.

That was one of my other choices def going to get the ctx3030 and wasn't sure if I def should get the Excalibur but now am def sure

The 3030 is not a good dive machine. It's not rated deep enough.

Well I'm not planning on using the 3030 to dive im prob going to go with the Excalibur for that
