We were metal detecting an old site and we found a small glass bottle, with a cork style top. It says "Dr. Kings New Life Pills" on one side, "H.E. Bucklen and Co." on another side, and "Chicago USA" on a third. Just curious how old it was or if it was worth anything.

Thanks

What? No picture of the bottle?

Go to eBay and do a search for Dr. Kings New Life Pills bottle and you should be able to find some info about your bottle.

In the late 1870's, Herbert E. Bucklen acquired the rights to certain medicines invented by Dr. Z.L. King, whose New Life Pills, a stomach "cure" first marketed in 1880, soon became one of the company's best sellers. Bucklen's lines of patent medicines included not only the Dr. King's brand but such lively preparations as Electric Bitters. He spent huge sums on advertising and promotions, and became a multi-millionaire. One of his "hobbies" was starting and investing in railroad and streetcar lines, but some of those ventures met with far less success.
