When someone on EBay says he bought it years ago and isn't sure that it's original, is that usually a sign that it's not?

It is a sign that the seller isn't sure if it is real or not. If you want something real - don't buy it. If you want the item (whether it is real or not - you want it for looks) and you can get it at a great price because the seller isn't sure - buy it.
