The center looks to me like either an S or a serpent around a column, surrounded by a laurel wreath. Found on a farm by a main road.
Thanks for any ID help.

Gene .. That is beautiful. Many years I dug an iron still bank from a bank in Roanoke Virginia that had a bottom plug on it that looked just like that, although it was plain.

Update 7:33: Here is one I just found on the web, but the replacement's center is missing the brass plate...gives you an idea, though.

Thank you for the great ID creskol. When I dug it I thought I had just another piece of tractor iron. Once I wiped the dirt off I was happy to see the engraving.

It looks like there are embossed words going around the center medallion, is that right? They may actually be easier to read on the back if that’s correct.

I saw something around the edge too. Just a laurel wreath. I added a cleaned up picture, that is after lemon juice.
