Re: RAISED CENTER COIN (pop coin)

Heres a pop out coin that I believe my Dad bought at the Statue of Liberty in the 80's.. Are these the raised center coins you are speaking of?

Re: RAISED CENTER COIN (pop coin)

Yep...any idea of a web site...?

any idea as to value?

The reason for asking is I think they are unique and would,nt mind having one...

Re: RAISED CENTER COIN (pop coin)

I know nothing about coins, but just searched for "pop coin" on eBay with some results. Scroll down there to have a look at the supposedly antique pop Barber watch fob made of three different denominations of Barber pop coins. Zoom in on the images. I can't vouch for authenticity and haven't bought any coins on eBay. If you scroll down farther than I did, you may find other old pop coins. Andi

The ones Ive seen are all old made from Barber coins. The only modern era one that I have seen is my Liberty pop out made from a 1981 Kennedy half. The patent was in 1904. I dont know of any website. http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,207954.0.html

Re: RAISED CENTER COIN (pop coin)

Yes, they were popular about 100 years ago. Tiny pics.

Tiny pics because its a tiny coin ::)

Actually, didn't have time to adjust the pic sizes (really don't know to how either)

I run a website on pop out coins that you may be interested in and I am also working on a booklet which should be finished soon. Here a few from my collection.
Thanks!

Wow cool idea for a website. Thanks for posting. My Dad said he bought his gold plated half dollar at the Statue of Liberty. The date on my half dollar is 1982. You are welcome to use my pics if you dont already have it.

Re: RAISED CENTER COIN (pop coin)

In order to obtain a coin for my wife's birthday I bought a Lot of 6 Lincoln penny coins...1914, 1927, 1928, 1968, 1971and 1977...

I gave Cristina the 1928 which I set in a gold bezel...and plan to sell the remaining 5 on eBay...

Today we found a Liberty pop-out on a 1914 Barber Quarter. It has eyelets on both top of bottom, which makes us believe it was part of a piece of jewelry.
