I deleted the "muff pistol" response due to the fact I was wrong... I think... errr picture title was anyway... heh
I think the one pictured is earlier than that "term" was used.... if ya catch my drift.
A "muff" is one of those wrist collars made of fur woman wore on their arms /wrists.
But i am not sure that the "age" of "muffs" (lol)... matches the picture / etc.
