This is the Stubble Field we have being working & we have covered it fairly quickly as its pretty quiet, so should finish it in about 10 hours or so.
The field lived up to its name (random) we recently gave it, because the only thing we expected today was the unexpected.
Most other fields we can have an educated guess as to what to expect, but this one just throws out surprises of all periods
Cru'dad got on the score sheet early on with a broken enamelled Medieval Horse Harness Pendant. Then it was dead for 4 hours until we finished the middle section & I was heading over to the water & jackets when I got a hammered Shortcross Followed by 2 more in less than 1 hour (these came from the other side of the field in a trashy area close to the farm)
My first complete Penny of Alexander III circa 1280 (Scottish!)
Shortcross has me stumped as its spelling fits nothing in the books - +SIH[ ]ME
Elizabeth I Halfgroat
Hunts Button with Whippet Dog
Livery Button
Tudor Button
Lead Token
Mangled Ram Rod Guide
18th C Sword Belt Fitment
Med. Belt Decor
Med. Belt Slide
Tudor Clothes Fastener (maybe face of Christ) broken off hook
1 Roman Coin - Romulus & Remus
17th C Spur Buckle
Can't guess whats the next good thing, maybe nothing more
Sadly the wire on my 11 inch coil has broken, so back to the 9 inch stock until I get a new one
