Greetings all,

I got out for a few hours to a site that I'm now calling "Bucket List Hill". This is my third trip to the site and have found a bucket list item on each trip! Today was no exception! My first find of the day was a Civil War percussion cap, which was a nice little find. The next find, and the two others that followed, completely blew me away! I got a 72 signal on the AT Max that I was sure was going to be a Minie Ball. Well, I was wrong! Once I got it out of the hole, I was surprised to see a small coin! I figured it was an Indian Head because of the size, but when I wiped it off I saw Old Abe staring staring back at me!! It ended up being a Civil War patriotic token with an R-5 rarity, meaning there are 200 or less known to exist! A Civil War token or Lincoln campaign token was on my bucket list, and I got to check them both off at once :headbang:.

My next good find came about an hour later and was something pretty different... a sterling silver 1914 German Iron Cross charm! I'm not sure what it is though :icon_scratch:. Maybe a sweetheart charm someone brought back from WWI as a souvenir... who knows!

The last good find was a big surprise... a piece of gold! It rang up just like a pull tab on the AT Max. Once again, I'm not sure what it is, but it tests 14k gold! I'm thinking maybe a cufflink? Anyone know?

Anyway, the other good finds for the day were a 1917 Buffalo Nickel, 1944 wheat, and a weird lead piece that is identical to one that my buddy found another Civil War site. If anyone has any ideas on that piece, please let me know.

Thanks for looking and HH!

GREAT finds PinFire. Thanks for sharing...

Many WW1 German vets moved to the US after the war. They even made Iron Cross remembrances/jewelry here in the US for them. I had a Iron Cross pin made in NYC, pictured below. Seven million Iron Crosses 2nd class were awarded during WW1. Gary

Congrats on an amazing political token. What a great piece of history.

Very nice campaign token. I haven't seen that one before. I also like the cuff link.

Hey those are some great finds! Congrats on the scarce token. :icon_thumright:

As for the lead piece, I've found a few dozen of them over the years and almost every one of them came out of old golf courses.
Pretty sure they are the inside weight of drivers from old golf clubs.
Could be wrong and will watch this thread for additional info.

Wow awesome finds! That Abe for president token is really cool. Congrats! :icon_thumleft:
