re" Where to begin
Thank you all for the warm welcome,
We plan on a trip to the estate this weekend, things may go slow over the next few weeks for a while for it will take my wife some time to really bring herself to see all of the things that will remind her of her grandmother.
So please be patient, I think the thing that will bother her more than any is the fact that the house and whatever is salvaged, will have to be sold seems that grandmother had some huge hospital bills that insurance did not cover. I haven't talked it over with the wifey yet but may ask her about posting some of the items on here or at at least get an opinion from you experts out there. I read your stories I know you guys know what your talking bout.Anyway I will try in a suttle way and tell her about this site when the time is right.
I am hoping that by this spring I can get a new detector, My friend a few years back gave me an old whites 2600 yeah the thing is a dinosaur lol, but what was funny was he said he never found anything with it I told him it was because he didn't know what he was doing, He said well if you find something with it you can have it..
It took me all of about 5 Min's. to get a decent signal it was a clad nickel, lol he couldn't believe it
But he kept his word so now I have that thing. Not really had much time to use it yet, but though I would teach my step son how to use it and then get me a better one. over this past fall I started doing a little research and found a place about 2 miles from where I live, the house there was built in 1870, Me and my step son had stop by there right before winter kicked in in full gear, and just really walked around the house has since been moved to a new location so not much left but some very tall weeds and a lot of thick brush.
I did get the th'er at for a few minutes dug up a few pull tabs, which was a good sign that it could be virgin ground. I really wanted to stay longer but I am trying to find out who owns the land and get permission, even though no signs are posted I know it is always best, that was what my step father always told me. he said that way if you find the mother lode at least you had permission. But anyway I think that place and Grandma's house will keep me busy for a while. I will keep everyone post as soon as I find something and I will post pics to.
Everyone take care have a great weekend!!!
