Ready to pop on Vanquish 440

Welcome to Tnet . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .:hello: Check out the many vendors on this site, it pays to call

Did it. Ordered one from Kellyco. Pretty excited. Metal detecting for many years now with a Tracker IV. Moving up finally should be fun!

And thanks for the nice welcome!

That’s a big jump in gear! Very cool.

I've done a fair bit of detecting but only with beginner detectors so far...so I still consider myself beginner level. Maybe advanced beginner if there is such a thing. With that in mind..here are my first impressions of my new Vanquish 440. For what it's worth.

I've only used it in the yard this morning before work so far, so keep that in mind as well.

I read a review from some guy who thought it was flimsy, so I was relieved that it's not at all. It's appropriately solid and has a good feel. It feels a bit heavier than what I'm used to (TrackerIV and Compadre) but not excessive.

I was hoping for more depth and good discrimination. I can already tell I got what i was wanting :) A few quick sweeps of my hunted out back yard showed lots of targets at mid to max depth. I dug about 5 targets just to see if the depth meter was accurate and it was pretty much on the money. Lastly I just swept for a deliberate coin. Can I pick one out on demand? Sure enough I dug up a penny at about 5 inches.

So far it seems to be everything it's cracked up to be. Pretty happy!

Will report more when I get more use.

Definitely harder to pinpoint with it. Especially in a target rich (or should I say trash rich) environment. Even with the pinpoint feature. Gonna need a pinpointer for shure. Still loving it though. For all the other beginners...I'm going to tell you, it really does go deeper....a lot deeper!

I do wish the tone break positions were adjustable.

More yard sweeping after work. Getting more comfortable using pinpoint....works pretty well.

The numbers on modern clad are deadly accurate on this thing. I made a little chart using the detector over various items. I can tell a Zincoln from an old penny, a penny from a dime, and a quarter rings up 29 every time. Can't wait to get it out somewhere else!

Congrats on your newmachine! :icon_thumleft:
