I?m a local historian researcher in a mexican city, and i have found for the past years some stories fro the 18th. century, that are mostly " last minute " confessions from bandidios the were executed and in order to try to save their souls, they gave up their treasures hidden in caves and in haciendas , etc. Priests would write the information and file them in church archives.
