Detector(s) used
Fisher F75, Minelab Etrac
I had a great couple of outings at a ghost town I have been detecting. I don't normally get excited over iron items that I dig but take a look at the 200 year old Cartouche knife. The bone handle and blade are nearly intact. The other find that I am excited about is the war of 1812 Artillery corp button. I also found a croatal bell, a heel plate, a couple of plain flat buttons, a thimble, part of a stone point. two lock covers, and a pile of musket balls.

Thank you for viewing my post and for your comments. All finds were made on private property with permission from the owner.

How did you identify the Cartouche knife? I would expect to see Egyptian symbols on the blade or handle, as that is what I associate cartouche with. Am I wrong?

That 1812 Artillery button is NICE!

Amazing finds...Love the buttons. No telling what else you might find there. I would be back ASAP.

Wow...great finds. I've read other post and articles stating that most ghost towns are so heavily hunted that just finding anything is good. You have some nice finds there and coins to boot. Way to go.

Great finds!!Are you sure the "cover",on the left isnt a piece of firearm furniture?

Cool finds. That knife is in amazing shape for being in the ground for that long.

Your Artillery button is terrific

I take it you're using the F75 to hunt your ghost towns?

I've been hunting some ghost towns myself this summer, mostly using the F75. It's a lot of work, LOTS of iron and trash, but if you can work through it, you can make some nice finds.

Nice! What part of the county are you in? Dont want specifics just in general. SW? NE? Just curious.
