Recond the firing berm, sir

Recon'd the firing berm, sir

Was at an old NAS to check out possible MDing areas. I was looking for the older areas of the base. Started finding these in a wooded hillside. Didn't take me long to figure out I was on an old berm. These look WW2 and pre vintage. Spotted the old firing range in an overgrown field below. Will have to check that out next time.

Went to another area and found some clad and a game token of some kind. Front says SPO or SRO.

The base in 1928: (Look for the biplane at end of runway.)

The base in 1955:

The base now: (most areas are now a park)

I like seeing pics of where people are finding things. Wish everyone would do it.

Looks like Sand Point NAS to me.

Nice finds - great looking site. Definately some potential there.

Thanks for the posts. Yup, definite potential, I just have to find it. As with most bases, they tended to pour concrete over everything as they expanded.
