Went detecting today in the beautifull Yorkshire Wolds it turned out to be a very nice day, although the detecting was a bit hard but on the way back took some pictures of a couple of our Game Birds

MJ the first bird is a French Partridge, also know as a red leg partridge, the outher is a cock Pheasant.

The Church is St Peter's Church, Wintringham, There is no mention of the church in the Domesday Book, but the chancel is Norman in style. The chancel dates from the 12th century, while much of the rest of the church dates from the 14th century. The east end of the church was rebuilt, and windows were added to the nave, in the 15th century. The tower, dating originally from the late 14th century.

Thank you for the info on the church! Wonderful history! The 1st bird I didn't know. The 2nd I knew, we have lots of pheasants ! Unless you go looking for them lol!

That's a fine looking Ringneck there. We used to hunt them often in Southern Michigan USA.

I'd never heard of a "black pheasant" until you mentioned it. So I looked them up and they are known as a "Melanistic Mutant", a really great looking bird, you must try and get a few shots of one mate

One of these days I would absolutely love to take some time to see the "old country" on the other side of the big blue pond. That church is older than this country, in a manner of speaking! The history you guys see in your everyday lives is something that I want experience before I die. Our history is just a babe compared to yours.
