Speaking only for myself that would be a dream find.

Did not stick to a magnet. Last time I thought I had something cool it stuck to a magnet. Bit it and it tasted like sliver, ha. Will take it to an expert and get opinion soon.

looks like one with a hole repair. I bet someone seeded it =) great find!

Ya, it does look like a hole was repaired. I've never heard of that.

I have the same half dollar - O mint mark, correct?

Mine is also holed, and then filled. I have since popped the hole out .

Thanks Buff and Coin, that is something that your coin has the hole also. Is it in about the same place as the one I have?? Can you put a pic of it on here also? Thanks for your reply.

Whole is for jewelery purposes mercury. A shame someone damaged it but amazing overall!

I was told that holes were placed in many coins to sew the coins inside peoples clothes. They carried everything they owned to settle out west. It took months to get there. If they were held up by robbers they wouldn't get all the money. I heard that was a common practice. 50 cents would buy a lot back then.

Oh, yes, that makes sense. Yes, too bad it got holed.
