🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Rein Guide?

Found this item in the field beside a late 1800's Home in SW Ontario Canada. I think it is a rein guide possibly.

I have never found one of these.

Could some one confirm it for me and help me with some history of
use,
age,
and anything else interesting thanks in advance

Can you shed any light on it. Age, what it would be used on? etc Like my original post is I am guessing around 1800's, and maybe a wagon? PapaStove

Yes 1800's to early 1900's would be my guess too

Interesting. I had no idea that they had such heavy duty threads on them. I would have guess it bolted to something solid (wood, iron) and used as a tie-off. Thanks for the info. 👍🏼

yours looks like this medium band terret .'' bottom left'' shown in a 1907 catalog
