relic hunter attacked by alligator

I think that is things like these that make our hobby's just a little more interesting. Now if it was true that he messed with the gators and had vids of himself petting them then not a lot of sympathy for his reckless ways with nature.

If that happens again, 10,000 years from now some guy will be diving the same spot looking for his fossilized teeth.

Even with a partner he's taking a big chance just to find teeth. The Myakka River is literally infested with large gators. A very wild river in a beautiful state park.
There is a TV show where the pros go hunting and killing large gators, make good money off skins and meat.

Go big or go home!
Rewards are typically based on difficulty or just dumb luck!
The bigger the risk, the greater the rewards.

Best site I ever detected in 40+ years of detecting was a old Church yard where there was nothing left but densely packed Hawthorn, Crabapple trees and every other poke you through kevlar thorns you can imagine.
I pulled over a thousand silver coins from that area.

I say get back in there!

In Maryland?
Wow, that's like really far North.
How would it survive the winter ?
Sewers?

Mild winters mostly. They bury themselves in the mud. Not sure about gators but turtles have some antifreeze like compounds in their blood that allow them to survive underwater all winter - even in Canada, under the ice.
This gator was probably a pet once and released when it outgrew its aquarium. It has been seen in the area and it would not surprise me if it survived the last few winters.

Oh, and no sewers here. All septic systems.
