relics dug on 12- 28 & 29

I got out for about 3 hours each day yesterday and today. Today I got into a pit and dug a hole about 2x2 feet and about 2 feet deep. Got lots of nails, cow bones and some glass I also got 3 pieces of clay pipe. The ground was so wet I decided to wait until it dries some before I dig the pit out. My finds for the past two days are 5 .58 3 ring mini's, a type 1 Williams cleaner, sharps carbine, eagle button, Zouave cuff button, button back and the pieces of clay pipe. Nothing great but not to bad for 6 hours.

You did very well. Digging pits is definitely an art I have not mastered that can be very productive-Great finds. HNY and HH!!!

Lesson one; make sure the bones in the pit are animal and not human

Thanks. Most of the pits that I've dug there are burn pits with mostly nails and cow bones. The best one I dug had a coat of eagle buttons and a shirt of iron buttons ( 4 big ones & 2 cuffs) and a bayonet blade. This one looks promising because of the clay pipe pieces and the amount of glass. I want to wait until it dries out a bit as when the dirt is loose it falls away from things making it easier to find the nonmetal relics and it does't leave as big a mess when you refill the hole. I like to put as much as the topsoil back on top as possible. If I get anything good out of it I'll let you all know.

Thanks The type ones are common here but we don't find many of the short 2 ring ones, type 2 or 3 whichever it is.

I knew it was for your kids but I had to mess with ya a bit.
Some of those GPS's are a pain. I was with my daughter and hers would take us past where we were going and have us make a u-turn. I just get lost and turned around the old fashioned way
