Metal detected a stagecoach stop dated to the 1800's yesterday and found a rather old looking religious Catholic medal depicting the infant Jesus (Old Spanish version "Santo Nino De Atocha". On one side is the Baby Jesus seated, holding a staff in his left hand and a basket in right hand. The obverse depicts a picture of the Virgin Mary standing with rays emanating from her. It is 1 1/4" in diameter. Wish I could send a picture but my camera is on the fritz. Any idea where I could find some info on this type of stuff. Found it in New Mexico.

Nice find Johnnie.

Search using Google for "Santo Nino De Atocha" and you will have enough to read for the rest of the winter.

Happy Hunting

Maybe not as old as yours, but I did find this.

Get that camera fixed! :D Ty's example looks like your's sounds though! Beautiful!

Congrats! Nana :)

Ty the pictures on mine are the same as yours except my medal is round and not sterling. Have to buy a new camera. Costs more to fix the old one than to buy a new one.
