Nice find Jay Banta. Now, get back in that hole and find the rest of it!

If only that dial could talk! Very cool find.

We had one in the house when I was young! Nice find! Congrats! :icon_thumleft:

Our first dial phone number was Woodlawn 7-3518 before that when there were operators it was 124J nice find

I can remember before the dial. our number was 149R.

Ours was AMhurst 7-7639. I still have an old rotary dial made by Western Electric. Most kids have probably never even seen one. Cool find. Gary

Remember ? Heck, I still have mine ! I also still have the slimline rotary, and slimline touch tone.

Looks a scene from Planet Of The Apes !!

Remember the good old rotary dial phone well. When I was a kid in the 50's, my parent's phone was on what's called a "party line". That meant there weren't enough phone numbers to go around so about six families phones would ring at the same time and you had to determine if the call was for you. We would answer the phone if the ring tone was two short rings and one long ring.

The problem was everyone of the six families could answer the phone and listen to the conversation. I remember my mom saying she could hear the neighbor listening in because she could hear her dog barking in the background! What a system!

Remember when we were all on a "party" line? Your neighbors could listen in to our calls....
