Loaned my 9 yr old Grandsons F2 out and upon return the unit now constantly falses when the control box is moved around at any speed faster then a glacier. If you swing it incredibly slow the falsing is almost bearable.

My guess is most likely someone had it leaning against a wall and it slid down and banged the floor and knocked or broke a connection loose in the box.

I never had to send a unit in for repair so I have no idea as to cost and I really don't want to stick more then $50 or so into it, so I was wondering, ........considering postage and repair cost etc, if I wouldn't be better off just buying a new entry level machine for him? If so any suggestions in the $200-$250 range?

Thanks

My rule of thumb is - if repairs cost less than half of replacement cost I get it repaired, more than half I replace it.

Lot of new detectors in that price range - f2 f22 the garrett aces europro's - your choice

just my opinion

A repair will likely cost at least $100 plus your shipping to them.

Step up! Get a new machine. Good Luck! :occasion14:

First just clean out the coil cover if it has one. Still falses, toss it. Tesoro would fix their detectors for free.

Wonder why nobody asked the obvious question...
Is it still under the 5 year warranty if bought new?

Bought my F2 for 115 off Ebay... Id get an other machine for sure

Did you check the coil for a hairline crack from being stepped on? Could be a coil problem.

Even without the coil disconnected it falses with just the slightest movement of the control box. I will call Fisher Monday.
