Where does the "new" sand come from? Could be a gold mine if dredged up from the bottom.

It is what it is. I live near a beach where they are dredging sand from a historical area. Been finding older stuff from previous dredging. Waiting for them to finish to go out detecting.

Two different areas reported as the source of new sand. Either the dredging of the Inlet , or Capron Shoals. Capron Shoals seems most likely and could in fact bring some potential finds in from off shore a little ways. It's a bit over 2 miles east of John Brooks and Frederick Douglas beaches. Both known for finds. Maybe a bit too far for 1715 fleet shipwrecks. OR MAYBE NOT.

Thats not good, OC Md is scheduled this spring .... As you come up the east coast the dredge companies are now filtering the sand mush at the shore with cage like filters. This all started after a incident at Strathmere NJ around 2010? They were unaware they had pumped in ship wreck coins and one of our boys found out, word spread like wild fire and before long groups of hunters were on the beach everyday, even some violence came about with some being territorial. Now the filter cages are used on all dredge sites on the mid Atlantic area beaches....they say the reason is to catch dangerous munitions .. 🤔 🤔😂

I absolutely hate beach "renourishment" as it is so called. What it is, is keeping rich people who are stupid enough to buy property on the sand from having their property wash away. At tax payers expense too. It ruins fishing, messes up you guys detecting, and washes away in just a few months. It's probably on of the biggest scams Florida has going on right now. Beaches come and go, they have forever. We've had 2 docks at the local boat ramp closed for 2 years now nerdeing rebuilt but they find millions to blow and bulldoze sand on the beach every year.

Agreed... They never should have allowed building so close to the water anyway.

Read today's Treasure Beaches Report about a dredge that dug into a 1544 Spanish galleon, and spewing silver coins up onto the beach. Estimated to be carrying $80 million in todays value!
