Will managed a couple of hours swing with two pennies to show for it , figured they were both IH , one was at 6 inches the other was at 8 inches. They were both pretty dirty so figured I would clean them when I got home. The first one I cleaned was a nice crisp 1889 IH the second was a little crusty and had to work a little harder to get a date , finally I could read it , 1858 that's when I noticed the eagles head, my first Flying Eagle Cent I was pumped. I have tried to put pics up but they just won't load I will keep trying !

Here are the pics!

Rob that is amazing! I've dreamed of getting a flying eagle cent but since they were only made for two years, 1857/58, the odds are against me. Congratulations! You need to come up to the next SWMSS meeting in Plainwell to show off that flying eagle - really so I can see it and hold it myself. :happysmiley:
you definitely need to go back in the spring!

Nice :-)

I watched a buddy dig one (flyin eagle) rgt in front of me about a month ago in the front yard at an 1860s home that's still standing.

I dug an 1886 type 2 indian that day myself :-)

Love to see what else turns up at that site of yours!
