Like any day in October you know your days of good weather are going to be limited, but this past Sunday the day was one to remember........Not only was the Sun out and the Temp in the mid 70's . We had a great group of friends hunting this field and we all found some really nice items.

Today we also had a surprise visitor in our hunting group, Lisa from PA. Everyone here in TN knows her as MonaLisa. When talking with her here in TN I mentioned that our weekend trip would be back to the field where the week before Tim and I had found some early coins and buttons. She said she would like to attend so she was more than welcome. As our day started we all met at the site . Tim and Jeff were already there , I met Lisa near the interstate and she followed me to the site.

We exchanged in some conversation and then began to hunt .....a short time later we started finding some nice items ..I found a nice old buckle along the back woods , Tim found a button and then the coins started to come out .I found the first large cent of the day , an 1822 Coronet in excellent condition. We have noticed that all the coins in this field have been in great shape. Most likely a result of non- chemical use in these farm fields.

Now with a couple of hours gone by we decided to take a break check out the finds so far and have a snack and some coffee. Noticing a vehicle coming down the road we moved over to let it pass , then notice it was a couple of the guys from the local club. Bill and George just hanging out down here in the southern tier and decided to hang out with us for a bit and see what they can find! Now that we have a regular detecting party going on we decide to get back at it. With Lisa wondering around we finally here her voice ....I have one, she found a nice 1825 large cent. :o :o :o It was in nice condition also , she stayed all day and by the end of the day she had some really nice finds and I'm sure they will be on TN soon.

I had found 3 nice large cents ( 1822, 1827 and 1828 ) :) A few buttons, a Brass buckle ,Mini balls and a few other relics. Jeff had found a nice scabbard tip of some type along with a few other nice finds. Timmy !!! Well he held his own finding more nice finds which he mentioned in his post.
Bill and George stayed for a short time after we left and also found a few items. All the pics below are from the site we hunted along with the coins and Items found, but the surprise picture is the one of the tracks from a Mountain Lion that just happened to walk along the edge of the woods in the muddy area in this field...There were plenty of tracks to take pictures of, but were just glad this Big cat stayed away on this Sunday morning! :o

The day turned out to be a great time, friends sharing their finds , a few laughs and some memorable moments ...... 8) Were all once again looking forward to more good times in the near future! HH

Those are some great finds Seeker. Those large cents held up well. Looks like they were dropped in the 20's. I love when they come out like that.
