if you dont mind me asking...what makes it Rev war period?I have dug several exact in mid 19th century sites.Its in great shape!Its odd that the gate valve is always missing

i googled brass spigots and found images of the exact spigot,it said it was Rev. war period plus it came from an area where i am finding colonial period flat buttons 1010178_598333270199261_1833157978_n.jpg 1011900_598333306865924_1092329672_n.jpg

Since they did not have rubber seals and groments back in this age and brass to brass would not work as they would leak, they had to use what was available! And what was available was usually wood, cork and animal hides, all of which would rot out and be gone long before the spigot.
